Have you ever gardenend before? What do you like to eat? Are you doing an SF4x4? We can’t wait to hear!
You will love this method, it’s awesome!

Re: Hello from Houston
Hi, I have done some small container gardening but nothing on this scale. My husband built me 3 sfg's. Each is 4x4. I have planted cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, kale, jalapenos, radishes, snow peas, chives, basil, onion, and melon. I'm so excited. My home was flooded by hurricane Harvey and this is the first project I have taken on since the hurricane that has not involve recovery. It's therapeutic to do this. Oh, and I love making salsa, so I am hoping this will shell out some awesome tomatoes and jalapenos to do this.

Welcome, Zuly98! So glad that you found the forum. I'm new and have found a very friendly group of gardeners here. There is a lot of information too... just type a topic into the "Search" box.
I look forward to hearing about your garden. It sounds like you have a good variety of vegies. You'll love the sfg method.

What a beautiful setup, Zuly98. Welcome from Redding, California, where the summers are hotter than Southern California.Zuly98 wrote: Here is what we have started. Just need to put the pea pebbles in the isles.

Re: Hello from Houston
Hi Zuly98. And a warm welcome from Atlanta, GA! NICE set-up.... Looks like plenty of sun & those trellises look great!
Re: Hello from Houston
No, I have not purchased the pebbles yet. I hope to do that this weekend. With work and kids it' hard to keep up. So I do one thing at a time. I started everything from seed in peat pellets while I waited for these beds to be done. Took about 1 month.

Re: Hello from Houston
I would strongly recommend that you use wood chips instead of pebbles. Weeding in rocks can be hard, the pebbles hop into the grass and bang up the lawn mower, etc. Weeding in wood chips is so easy. "Oh, look, a weed!" PluckZuly98 wrote:No, I have not purchased the pebbles yet. I hope to do that this weekend. With work and kids it' hard to keep up. So I do one thing at a time. Re: Hello from Houston
Hi @Sanderson I went ahead and did wood chips. It was also more economical. Appreciate the advice.
