Brand spanking new to gardening. Not sure what else to say. I have struggled in the past to keep even the simplest of house plants alive. I am however determined to grow things I can eat for two reasons: A) tired of sub-par overpriced hormone inject produced from the store. B) Need a new challenge!

I have been trying to grow carrots, chives, strawberries and 2 types of tomatoes (all in pots) with little to no success. Nothing has died but after months of trying I have only produced 4 cherry tomatoes. The good news is The Princess (my almost 3yr old daughter/gardening buddy) LOVED them! Which is good cause honestly I really dont like to eat cherry tomatoes.

The master plan is to build 2 4'x4' raised beds and have them ready for the fall planting season. I really dont know where to start but hope with lots of reading and help from y'all I can make the princess proud and have lots of healthy food!

Oh and by the way I am just south of Houston in League City Tx. If there are any locals that would like to befriend a dad and his gardening buddy just say hello.

Hello from Houston Empty New to SFG too

I strongly suggest buying the " The All New Square FOOT Gardening" book by: Mel Barthololmew. Im reading fast as I can to catch up. With all the history sample and wealth of knowledge it will take the pain staking research trying to figure out what when where and how.
Then come to this forum the $19.95 is well worth it.

Welcome eraxpar. Glad to have you on the forum. Both you and need to grow are on the right path by reading the book first.
