Cherub Tomatoes
I want to grow those tiny, sweet grocery store "Cherub" tomatoes, but I read that the seeds are only available to commercial growers, so, my question is: what is the sweetest tiny tomato variety that I can grow for salads?

These look pretty small. http://www.territorialseed.com/product/Sweet_Pea_Currant_Organic_Tomato_Seed/organic-tomato-seed

Mine are tiny. I'm not sure they are what you want. ?? They are the tiny reds on the left of the lineup.
Re: Cherub Tomatoes
The smallest tomatoes that i have come across are called currant tomatoes. They are about the size of a large pea. The big mail order houses should carry the seed. They add a great surprise crunch to salads but it's a real pain to pick all those tiny rascals.

The Sweet 100s should be fine. Pea size sounds like too much work for the reward.Abiqua Ike wrote:The smallest tomatoes that i have come across are called currant tomatoes. I agree. We sold the currant type for a few years at the co-op nursery but nobody wanted to grow them a second time because it just wasn't worth the picking effort. After that the growers stopped offering them.

Cherub tomatoes
I could not get enough grocery store Cherubs last summer. They tasted better to me than the Sungolds from my garden. I couldn't find seeds or any information on them. So I saved some of the seeds, fermented them a few days in water on my windowsill, dried them, and stored. A couple of weeks ago I tried to sprout them even though it is too early for this season, just to see what the germination would look like. I got 5 plants from 6 seeds, very sturdy, lovely looking tomato plants. I wonder what the fruit will be like. If these are early hybrids, and I suspect they are, i might not get anything like the cherubs, but what will they be like? I should toss these transplants and try again at a more appropriate time, but they are such pretty plants.........now I have a problem.

Re: Cherub Tomatoes
I also planted some “harvested” Cherub seeds several weeks ago.
Plan on growing the seedlings indoors (under grow lights) until April when I will plant them outdoors.
Eager to see how they turn out- I can’t find out much info on them and know nothing about their expected grown/fruiting habit.

success!
July2, 2021. Tasted my first homegrown Cherub! Tall plants, since I started in January, and lots of green fruit left to ripen. The red ones taste just like they should, delicious!
