I grew them for the first time last year, and I loved them too! Little learning curve on when to harvest the off-red tomatoes, I must admit. Especially the green ones.Turan wrote:OH, I loved that history lesson. I grow Cherokee Purple, it is one of my favorites.

This year I have 2 Brandywines (missed them last year, only red I grew was Oxheart, and the plant overcame itself), 2 Sun Gold (cherry), and one each Cherokee Purple, Great White, German Green, and 4 miscellaneous "Heirloom Mix" from someone here....cannot recall! So and adventurous year in the tomato department for me!

Very interesting stories. I love the one about the seeds that were a wedding present. What a wonderful gift. The tomato lives on with the name of the bride.

I liked it. Yes, thoughtful gift indeed, now a days you would have to know who you were giving that to. Some people would NOT appreciate such a gift!
