So excited to try these!  I had never heard of ground cherries before this spring; they're new to DH, as well, and he's a New England native.  A fun and pretty plant with very tasty fruit, the flavor is warm, earthy and unusual. Fortunately we have several bushes growing, so we'll have plenty to snack on, and maybe make some jam. I hope to plant several varieties of ground / husk cherries next year. What a Face

These are "Aunt Molly's" Polish heirloom variety; if you want to swap seeds or just want to try these, please send me a PM.

Congratulations Ginger Blue!
Last year I grew over a gallon of ground cherries, it freezes well and can be added into smoothies all winter long.  If you neglect to harvest some they will freely reseed for next year! They grow outside the sfg box too, prolific, almost like weeds.

We have some bought plants that we put in this year as well as several volunteers that self-seeded from last year.

Actually Mrs TD just came into the house carrying a bunch of ground cherries that she harvested. She ate all of them before I had a chance to get even one of them!

I love those things!  How to freeze them, CC?  Whole un-husked?
