Big mistake - Windows 10
OK I planted lettuce and chard, spinach and carrots, kale and radishes, leeks and a new dill today. What is the big mistake- I installed windows 10 and it has taken me 1 hour to return to this forum and the print is too small and I can't find any of my favorites. I am hoping I can find my pictures. Big mistake

Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
johnp ... Sorry to hear about your Windows 10 problem.
Others are experiencing the font size issue. Here is one example with a possible solution:

BTW I used the free Windows 7 to Windows 10 update on both my desktop and laptop computers.

I will try the control + and look at the font article, thanks all. I just got a little ding and a tab came up ( How satisfied are you with he Windows 10 update). I resisted with everything I had not to throw my coffee cup through the screen ![affraid](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/affraid.gif)

Let's let this little guy take care of it for you, John. That way nothing really gets damaged.

Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
I, too, lost my Favorites, but there IS a way to retrieve them. Unfortunately, I don't quite remember how I did it. However, I may be able to retrace the steps. If so, I'll post them here. At least I now have my gardening favorites at hand.
I had other problems with Windows 10, as well. I lost access to Windows Live Mail. Eventually, it was restored, but now my ISP doesn't recognize my e-mail address using that platform!
There was also an initial problem accessing my printer. That cleared up within a few days, probably thanks to Microsoft updates in response to many complaints.
Overall, I wish I'd stayed with Windows 7!

If you did the free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, you can revert back to Windows 7. As for me I am quite liking Windows 10.

Yes, I used that free upgrade, but don't want to risk any unintended consequences if I revert to Windows 7. I'm a strong believer in Murphy's Law!
Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
I'm too nervous to upgrade from 7, even though that little 10 pop up is so annoying on a daily basis.

Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
If you have any printers , scanners or drawing tablets that are over 3 yrs old you may also find that windows 10 does not communicate with them . You may also find that some of the older cameras cannot be down loaded off the camera .johnp wrote:OK I planted lettuce and chard, spinach and carrots, kale and radishes, leeks and a new dill today. Another thing I hated with win 10 was thespecially selected adverts that I got slapped with ..it became a nightmare trying to log on to sites , because WIN 10 tracks with cookies all & everything you go to , then decides what adverts to throw into your face as well as pouring in the ones they think are applicable to your age , sex , family or location .etc.etc.
In the end I migrated to Ubuntu 14.4 TS and had to relearn everything I know about computers but at least this way I can choose where I go on the internet and am still well protected against nasties .
Another big advantage is that I'm using a programme called " i block " it is very effective .
Since I've started using it on my Ubuntu platformed computer it has speeded things up tremendously as it blocks all the rubbish before it gets onto the computer .
Downside is that having to learn a new system is hard , as my memory is not what it was as a 15 yr old trainee radar technician .

Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
I can't remember what day it is let alone trying to learn a new computer. My saving grace is my Ipad which allows me to read my mail etc. This has been and is a struggle. Going to try pictures when my camera comes back and so far I haven't needed the computer for work related stuff (books are on wife's com.) and we will not touch hers. I have gotten to the forum everyday but how I get here seems different each time. Frustrating, haven't tried printing anything so that's my next step. We will see....

Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
I have a desktop that has Win7 and a laptop that has the dreaded Win8. There is no Win9 apparently. I would never consider upgrading my Win7 to either 8 or 10. Ever, ever, ever! Can't stand Win8 and Win10 has a lot of bugs and 'presets' that I don't want. Unless I make myself a lot more proficient in Win10 so that I can 'unset' those unwanted things (including tracking and sharing of files), I will not be upgrading to 10. Would like to chuck the Win8 machine out the window.......except that I need it and it's not that old.....

Re: Big mistake - Windows 10
We did the upgrade. I hate 10! It's awful! But at least my printers are all working...
