I know there are lots of engineering types on this forum but, as much as I'd like to be, I sure ain't one of them. Embarassed If you feel bored and/or moved to do so, can anyone come up with an idea for these windows I have. There are 16 windows, the panes are plastic. I was hoping to make something very clever...some kind of tiny green house or even a lean-to, but I can't figure out how to hootch em together.

Each window is 40"x 17". They look like this:16 Windows But No Plan...Help? Dec_3_10

Strong winds here where the sun is, not so windy where it's partly shady & a lean-to could go.

I'm not an engineer, but I think setting them up like a teepee, with two leaning against each other over the beds, would serve as a mini-greenhouse. You could put two pair per raised bed. Plumber's tape could connect them as well as prevent water and wind from entering the divisions. Vinyl plastic attached to the open ends (upside down 'vees') would make them intact greenhouses.

Someone with more knowledge can tell you how to anchor them safely against the elements.

Yes, that will work fine for now.
But I'm REALLY dreaming of a walk-in green house or lean-to...

Perhaps make a four square endless box and stand them upright tied to a decent wooden stake to stop the wind blowing them over . .. to grow peppers or toms on a bit early
Use a length of 2 inch batton at each corner , then drill & screw the frames to it

Or use aluminium angle or strips of it bent to 90 degrees to make right angles .
Or use strips and make all sections into a circle with pop rivetting the strips to the frames then use three butt hinges on the last two section to make a bat wing door of 32 inches wide .

16 panels x17 inches , divided by 3.146 equals the diameter of the construction , to my reckoning will give you a circle of approx 86 inches diameter ( 7 foot 2 inches )

A simple conical top that you can remove to give access with a leg to each joint of the panels can be made out of 1& 1/2 planed timber covered in three thicknesses of heavy duty plastic sheets that over lap The sheeting fixed to the timbers by wood strips and galv nails

Seal up any gaps between the panels with a window quality glazing silicone out of a gun applicator . Anchor the unit & the top down just incase to prevent it getting blown away .

Then I think you could try a keyhole bed inside so as to make the best use of the space.

Having let it run through my mind whilst I was knocking out ZZZZZZz's .. Laughing
Hinge all sections so you can move it away from a raised bed and put it back after tending the bed if it is light enough to move .

I was thinking of you using simple steel butt hinges , sometimes called box hinges .

Great ideas, folks! I love the round one...I never thought of that! See how clever you all are?! I'm trying to wrap my li'l pea brain around all the ideas but it's like learning a new language. Rolling Eyes Working on it.

Plantoid, you must be a very busy boy in REM! You're slumber really produces. I was able to copy & paste your diagram to Word and print it. Thanks a bunch. Will look up the hinges you suggest next.

If I put it together properly, I could fold it up like an accordion for storage, right?

You'll have lots of gaps that you won't be able to use silicone seal to help keep the heat in so you might have to use some really sticky duct or gas sealing tape to seal across the gaps when things are in the folded up position .
