Copper in garden for slug control
Pennies to the Rescue

Pennies or copper placed along the inside of your SFG box can help keep out slugs and other harmful pests. Copper can also protect tomatoes against blight.
Since pennies are over 97% Zinc with very little copper these days, is it the zinc or the copper that counts?

No difference. It's a fun idea that yields disappointing results. There's plenty of Youtube videos showing slugs crossing rows of pennies, copper wire, and copper plumber's tape without a problem.

The only copper alloy I've ever found that stopped slugs & snails was surrounding a bit of lead . Though at 9 mm in diameter it made a heck of a mess if it hit a cabbage etc.square on
