Homesteading with SFG
I can across this article today. They don't specifically mention using the square foot garden method, but the pictures sure look like it. Their yard is nearly covered with 4 x 8 boxes.

I saw this last year. I was amazed at what they were able to do on their land.

The video is amazing and so is the family.
It shows it can be done but you need people to work together as in farming.

Oh wow! That's really amazing to see. All those boxes!
That reminds me of a house a few blocks from mine. They have the tiniest back yard, probably no more than 15x20 feet. They took up all the grass, laid down plastic with gravel on top, and then filled in the space with 4x4 beds. They have an amazing amount of garden space with what used to be a pretty useless little yard. It's very neat to look at. It kind of makes me ashamed of all the grass I have in my yard, lol.

Watering with clay pots
They have a web site. Haven't had a chance to read much of it, but this is interesting. They water with buried clay pots. I think this is a little expensive for me. Wondering how many you need for a 4 x 8 box? Anyone tried this?

I hear you, Littlesapphire! I've got about 1/3 acre of mostly grass. I'd LOVE to get rid of all of it.
I'm thinking about trying to start a neighborhood garden-share type of thing. Neighbors pay me to do garden in my yard and they get veggies in return...

Sounds like a C.S.A. to me!
We had one member who was getting into being a CSA grower using SFG.
Here's his posts to look through; you might find some ideas.

That's a great looking garden. I love how nice and contained everything is. Thanks for sharing it.
