Grid fasteners

I am wanting some of my grids to be portable so will not be fastening them to the box. What would you use as fasteners to hold the grid together and be easily collapsible when not on the box?

how about drilling small holes where the grids intersect and attaching nuts and bolts. then it would fold like a collapsible trellis.

or if you have the time/energy, make a custom grid to fit INSIDE the box and have cutouts like lincoln logs so the grids will fit nicely into each other. . . just lay on the soil.

Not sure if you're interested... but we use kite string Smile

We take it off at the end of the season, then just string it back up again in the spring.

Thanks for the ideas. Actually, the reason I want it removable is that I will be using it with an empty box which I will be transporting around as a demo box. I am currently using venetian blinds in some of my boxes and plastic clothesline in others. I'll be using blinds for the demo box but it will just be easier to handle and put back up in an instant if it is collapsible.

I didn't want to drill to make the grid perminent either so I used green covered garden stakes that we already had and held them in place with a bunch of 8" long wire loops that are used to hold down drip line (had these too). The ends have a loop and where the grid crosses I put two overlapping. Probably too labor intensive for your purposes but it does seem to stay put and can be easily removed.

I use roundhead brass fasteners, like we used in school to hold looseleaf together.
