Probably one of the best years on record and a very long growing season.
Here's the grade I'm giving them
Potatoes A+
Lettuce B- (warm fall left too many aphids nipping them)
Carrots (fall) A+ (ideal weather, timely rains)
Watermelon C+ (cool spring slowed things)
Melons B
Tomatoes  A-
Peppers B
Radishes: A
Cotton: B (first year, long growing season helped)
Peas: A
Beans B

Now it's time for my cold frame to extend the season under the "lights". Have lettuce and Kale.

You've joined the many of us that have seen our growing season close, except for tunnel beds and indoors.  It was great while it lasted.
It sounds like you did well and I'm sure when the seed catalogs arrive, starting in Dec usually, you'll be making out your new list of varieties to try.
You did good.

I'd look at it this way.
Now I can officially start thinking of our next growing season...Sometimes it's difficult, but, I do like to think positive when I can.

It has been a very good year for me here in Maryland, and hate to see it go.   I still have some carrots in the ground, about 100 days from when I planted them.  I hear that carrots can take some freezing days, so I'm going to delay harvesting them for a while.    Maybe I'll pick them for thanksgiving.

Post  hester78132 11/12/2014, 4:40 pm

I USED 31 OF MY 32 SQUARES TO PLANT STRAWBERRIES.  SINCE I AM IN A MODERATE CLIMATE,  I WILL HAVE LOTS OF STRAWBERRIES THIS SPRING.
