Monster squash!

I suppose that's what happens when they're not semi-confined in a Square Foot Garden, trellised, or not trimmed back.

As it is, I'm having enough trouble keeping up with mine.  I'm in the process of blanching and freezing more of the critters.

This is the front yard of my friends house who has a u pick apple and pumpkin orchard. He opens the 22nd. He had these seeds for several years and decided to plant them. They are all heirloom and names I have not heard of. There are actually 4 vines heading for the road and the far one is called an amish pie squash and the squash will weigh 50 to 60 lbs. each. Beats the heck out of my 1 pound acorn.
