I don't like dried dill when I pickle and wondered if I could freeze many heads for use later when the slowest crop of cuc's ever decide to get big enough.

I tried it, it is cooling now and then I will stuff it into a quart jar and pour in the vinegar. Will see if it works cuz it's a great idea. My cuc's are just about half way but I was prowling around the mess a the bottom of the cuc vines a guess what. I found over 6 pounds of ugly big yellow cuc's. Should have been looking harder. Embarassed  Embarassed

I took the dill and packed into a washed quart jar and put the cap loosely on and put it on the window sill. Later on in the afternoon my wife walked by and looked at the jar. She noticed some pen scratching on the lid, I hadn't noticed. Seems I had grabbed one of her jars that she uses for dying wool and some of those dyes are highly toxic. Needless to say that we threw it out and this morning I am trying again. This time with one of my new jars. She keeps her stuff completely separate from the canning stuff but I had forgotten over the winter and just went to the wrong place in the shed. Please know where your jars have been and what they have been doing. Smile
