Hello from E. Teaxs!
Hello my name is Veronica and I have just started the SFQ Certification course.
My husband and I own a farm & garden store that was started in 1955 by his father. I've ran it for the past 1 1/2 years and have really expanded into the garden/nursery side of it.
My family of 5 did a traditional 'old style' garden last year with 15-50 ft rows of veggies. We had spent so much time amending the soil and tilling the lime in, back breaking work to say the least. This garden soon got way out of hand, the weeds took over quickly, water bill went up, my husband and I were to tired by the time we got home to walk 'way out to it', LOL
I purchased 2 of Mels' books this past year thinking there has got to be a better way of doing this!
Those 2 books have opened my eyes to a whole NEW way of gardening!
I now have a 4x8 garden outside our back door so I walk by it each morning and each night. It was so easy my 7 and 15 yr. old help me build it, fill it and plant it. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and the plants are growing like crazy!
I'm so happy to be able to learn about this and share this wonderful information with our customers this next spring season.
I will be posting pics of my garden soon.

That lack of weeding and reduced need to water are some of the things I like best about the square foot method, because they spare so much time and energy. Weeding especially is a miserable affair in most soils, and my back and knees don't appreciate it one bit.

Veronica, Welcome to the Forum! With the garden store, you have a perfect venue to spread the word about SFG. There's no doubt that we all appreciate the "economy" of this method: less water, less space, less work, less tools, less weeding.
