do cantaloupe need pruning to one or two melon per lateral line? I know how to do melons, but not sure about cantelopes on a trellis.
also the same for cucumbers. I can't find any videos out the on the net.

anyone having success with cantaloupes? mines are getting out of control and I'm not sure what to do from here. will I lose flavor or will the plant just abort a few. I'm having better pollination, thus more fruit. the soil is better this year. so is there a pruning technique or do u just let them go for it?

I can't help you with an answer so I hope someone else can. I like mine to grow overhead on some infrastructure so I only trim a lower side vine here and there if there is nothing for it to attach to.

What is the mulch? Dried grass?

Not sure what to tell you, Has55.  I'm trellising also and just letting them go for broke.  Doing it with honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, spaghetti squash, luffa gourds, bottle gourds.

We'll see what happens.

What do you do when you're NOT trellising?  I'd think it'd be the same...

Interesting, if few melons ripen simultaneously it is sweeter than if many ripen at the same time.
