Defiant Cantaloupe
Look closely.
Behind the ferocious Deutscher Schäferhund is my defiant melon.
I've noticed, that it will bloom pretty little flowers, and then before they wilt or do anything else, the entire flower "falls" off. ("falls" is in quotes to indicate there may be foul play involved...I'm not ruling out anything yet)
The plant was raised in a quiet, suburban neighborhood. Wasn't exposed to drugs or television, and seems generally in good health. It has actually doubled in size since this pic was taken and is eagerly climbing up anything it grab onto (harlot!).
Is this flower-dropping normal behavior or is my cantaloupe 'acting out'? I've heard that even good homes will have a bad melon, but I just never thought it would happen to me.
Thanks!

Re: Defiant Cantaloupe
How hot is it there? Some of my melons go through times where the flowers just seem to wilt and drop off without anything, but that is when it's really hot. I have to go out early morning to see any of the flowers.

It's all relative, I guess. The summer has been pretty mild but this week is pushing into the low 90's which I think isn't terribly hot for these guys.
What say you all?
