Strawberry plants Red stele :(

So sad. I thought my strawberry plants were doing well. Nice green leaves continuing to grow from crown, shoots coming out of a few. The bottom leaves started turning red a few weeks ago. I've compared pics I've found and it turns out they are infected with red stele. Is there a cure or is it a loss?

Contact Umass ag about how to deal with that...
I would suggest your extension service but Massachusetts puts all that funding into UMass and doesn't have an Extension Service... somehow...

If so it should be resistant to red steele, but check out the asterisk in the bottom of that same chart, seems they could catch it anyway.

Maybe it could still be nutritional. I've had red leaves in the past and didn't do anything special and it seemed to go away on its own. Didn't have it this year.

Variety? That's an interesting question. When I bought my plants I wasn't paying attention and found no label when I got home. I called the nursery to find out what they were selling and even brought one plant back to them. It's a mystery. Lame on my side for not asking and lame on them for not knowing...

I found info this morning on the Ohio site that led me to believe it's Red Stele.

Pulled up one plant and sure enough...

Hi camprn, I left a message for them, but I'm pretty sure what it is. The one plant I did pull up came out as if it wasn't attached to anything. I'll wait to hear from them before pulling up more. If it's a loss, next year it's a big pot instead of a using prime 4X4 real estate.
