Hello, fellow SFGers !!!!! I believe the kids are going to be building me some raised bed gardens for my birthday and Father's Day combined, as follows: (3) 2'x8"x16' and (1) 2'x8"x10' and they will be placed in a square pattern. I plan on having 3' wide paths so I can get my garden cart in there if I need to. This will be in a 20 foot square area, so I have to decide what to put in the middle. I don't want to put a fruit tree because that will shade the area. I have a strawberry tower that is hanging from a bracket on my porch steps, so I don't want to do strawberries. I am in Zone 6 Suggestions welcome.    Very Happy  P.S.  I have 2 other 4x4 sfg's that I posted pictures of, and have separate pots with herbs in them, so I don't think I want to put herbs in the middle.

So you'll have a 10x10 square in the middle?

No use postponing the inevitable. Might as well get an advance on your Christmas presents, and have boxes made for that space too!  Would welcome your suggestions 3170584802

Make them deeper boxes for carrots and potatoes.

Or, for this year, make it a seating area.

LOL Boffer  Very Happy  I currently have (1) 4x4 in that area and (1) pallet square that are being used and will come out next season so my 10x10 middle area will be free to design.  I like the way you think and that may be a good idea with carrots and whatever.  I would love to have a decorative fountain or something .... but stuff like that is way too expensive for MY budget.

Make a trellis so that it will become a kids' fort/hiding spot when it is covered with veggie plants like beans or squash.

A reclining chair, end table, and a small screen set on top on a mini-frig?

Or a cattle panel trellis flanked by 2 rectangle boxes to provide a shady area to sit.

What about a big pot/tower with flowers in it? I always like to add flowers as pollinator attractors to my garden, plus it makes it so beautiful.

Someday my 'finished' SFG will have a fountain or bird bath with herbs planted around it in a circle.  If you keep your eyes open maybe you can find something on Craigslist or on clearance at the end of the summer.  I never seem to have this luck, but I've heard it happens for other people!

I think a pi r squared  foot garden filled with bee attracting flowers would look nice in the middle.  Some times I get tired of just straight lines.
