You would think I should know - peat moss

Having just finished a table top bed on wheels, I was too excited to wait to fill it.
Compost went in first and then bags of commerical Mel's Mix and then watering.

After watering and waiting, I had a "head slap" moment - "Dummie", the commerical mix was dry and didn't absorb the water. Embarassed

Now I'm making up for being so fast to fill the bed - lots of watering and lots of hand mixing to get that peat to absorb the water. Finally, the hand mixing and lots of water are working, fewer dry spots are appearing as I mix.

My lesson learned -the next tt filled will have already soaked mix added to it. A large wash tub will hold a bag of the mix and over a few days should absorb enough water to be useful.

We, all, make mistakes?

Yup, cutting corners usually results in more work. The good thing is you realized what happened and are now on the right road.

Good lesson to have learned! I bet it's one of the most common ones, too, so you're in plenty of good company.
