What I thought was just snow on top roof was really a little snow with the whole middle bent within 30" of the floor and the shed height is about 6 foot to the bottom of the beam.

Noticed the roof line was low and the side was collapsed with the roof and the front was bowed in toward the roof under all the snow weight.

My son helped me get the sliding doors off and good stuff out.
Stuck a short shovel under the bent roof to keep it from getting any lower but the metal shed is toast.

Wonder if the scrap metal is worth anything?

Looks like Mother Nature has added to my list of spring projects.

I'm sorry to hear that.  Plenty of buildings have been collapsing under the weight of the snow this year.  Sorry you suffered along with others.

I have a friend whose horse barn, big enough for 30 horses, had the roof collapse.  Luckily the horses were already out in the corral at the time (in KY and she only has 6 now).

The barn cats wouldn't leave.   She was actually in it when she heard the barn moan, like the sound on the Titanic when it was going over.  She got out of there just in time when it came down.

As soon as it happened I was on my son's back about shoveling off the garage and house roof.  He had already planned to do that the current Sat.
Too many garages and sheds and barns have been collapsing lately from the heavy ice and snow.

Folks, if you have snow on your roof, whether house or shed, be sure to clear it off as soon as you can.  Even if its just a little of it.  It will decrease the weight and chance of collapse.

So sorry for the storage shed loss... it's a tough thing to experience.

We lost an outdoor gazebo a few years back.  I told my sweet husband that I thought we really should get as much of the snow off before going to bed as we could.  He's normally really responsive to that kind of comment but that night he said, "I'll get it in the morning!"  Famous.  Last.  Words.

It was completely inverted.  He managed to bend it back up and put a pole in.  We even used it for a few more years like that, but you can bet he has NEVER again said "it can wait til morning" LOL!

Sorry to hear that about your shed. There will be other sheds in your future. They say it is better to have had a shed and have lost it than to never have had a shed.

rats! sorry to hear about your shed  Sad and QB what a scary story about your friends stables....wow....so sorry you all are having such severe weather.......

last week when we had some heavy winds our corner neighbors tree lost a huge branch....pretty much a small tree size branch, that came down onto our new back yard fence breaking it and also causing damage to our children's trampoline.....

we have such sweet kids.....they didn't say a thing about the branch going thru their trampoline, they were more worried about daddy's fence....and felt terrible that our pretty fence that they help daddy build was broken....

hugs

My condolences on the loss of your shed. I thought that things like that only happened to bowling alleys, grungy strip malls, and old supermarkets. Will your homeowner's insurance cover an outbuilding?

Recoush, Can you rebuild an interior wood frame and roof support and then used the aluminum as the exterior material? Just a thought I've had.

The good news i have it on pressure treated wood floor and is set on piers and anchord
so the bottom floor is done and still good. IF i did not need the storage would a great size for a SFG  Very Happy

may rebuild in 2x4 with gal brackets no cutting other 90 degrees
Likely make a peak roof and the full 8 height then i dont have to duck the other one was about 6 high
most of the metal is bent had my son measure and it was about 8x10

hoping i can sell the metal for a few extra bucks, doubt from what i can see any of it is not bent
major bummer ,how ever an oppurtunity for improvement Very Happy
