Flying pests?

Flying pests?
Yesterday about noon I came home from work to do some things around the house. As I drove home I saw two neighbors burning their orchard clean ups so I decided to stop stalling and burn my pile from last year. The pile is out by the garden and as I walked out I looked over toward the garden and I saw what looked like white ash drifting around about 15 ft. off the ground. As I continued to look this "ash" drifted toward me and it was tiny white butterflies, many, many of them like they all just hatched at the same time and flew away. I'm having scary thoughts; any thoughts about what they may be?

How big is tiny? Butterfly size or gnat size? I'd check with the County Ag Commissioner's entomologist.

It would be pure speculation without a photo to guide my guess. Can you please post a photo?

They flew away and I did not have a camera, just a shovel and a blow torch. They were a translucent white and smaller than a dime. I will look in the pest guide. I have a small book on Co. butterflies but did not see a match.
