Thought if we all think warm thoughts the snow may melt away.

Here is a rear yard shot toward the Fence those brown cans are upside down 50 Gallon cans used to protect my two sapling maple trees to be panted after the thaw  Shocked  the miidle one was a 20 gallon pot with the mound in it basically the top aligned to the top edge of the raised bed.

That looks a cool picture  Laughing

No wonder we are still having to wear woolly jumpers and jackets this side of the pond

I wonder if respiration will become a problem under the cans. Even plants need to breathe.

recoush, your picture could be a picture of the way my garden looks right now.
But we are going to have several days of above-zero weather night and day so the snow should should disappear and I will be able to find what is surviving under all tha whie. there shoukld be some carrots, shallots and garlic. Keeping fingers crossed.
OK, it is raining quite a bit and there is more in the forecast so it will be soggy.

Mentally & physically I'm a wee bit wrecked more than usual.
Strange events happening to me like I went away for three days on a long weekend that started on a Monday .  Had to spend most of the Thursday through to Saturday recuperating.

Now I'm under going  withdrawal symptoms due to the end of the 13 week course of DVT meds .. I'm a bit more dopey than normal ..
It should like the weather slowly improve over the next couple of weeks.

The chances are the plants will be that anaemic yellow colour & a bit weak looking for the first few day of the cans being removed ..I doubt the oxygen reduction will be as affecting as the lack of sunlight for the chlorophyll production will .

No worries,

The Old sugar maple along the drive had started to dry root (cut it down) all I need was that to fall on the neighbors house so down it came. The front one had some kind of weird mold had part of that removed.

In the after math found the two saplings about 2 foot high, treated the root of the sugar maple to good bath in Bayer tree fertilizer and a large pot then planted the tree and the pot in the soil did a berm over the base by 6 " then they can over the top with some weight

If I can get to them and the weather is in the 30's up may remove the cans.
But from the looks of it may have to shovel my way to the back yard, gravel path,

If they survive (2) then spring will be a very good planting time.

Recoush, Could you enlarge your Font a wee bit? It's a little small for older eyes (and I have a large monitor).
