Welcome to our region! I am up in Montana, and Donna is over in central Oregon and we have a number of members in Idaho and Colorado. Utah fits the description of inland high plains and mountains.
How is your garden doing?
I will be posting an update on my garden, I use that as an example for others of our region.

Hello from Ogden! I have 5 Lifetime square foot gardening beds (one is a double (high) for root crops). We put them together in the spring of 2014. They are a little bowed over the years but otherwise holding up pretty well. I have everbearing Tristan strawberries in 2 of the beds. The other three are presently covered with a PVC hoop frame and insulated fruit tree bags (which didn't work very well for me on my fruit trees). So far, (we have been living in the Wasatch Front valley since 2013) the orchard seems to survive a late frost and still produce lots of fruit...it's the peach borers I have lost trees to). The one time I used the bags on the trees, most of the blossoms were beaten off when a wind came up. But I digress.
The double bed has a few older beets and carrots from summer and several rows of baby carrots. One of the singles has Tuscan Kale, Red Russian Kale that are harvestable (though the plants are growing very slowly at the moment), some small Bok Choi and baby Red Veined Sorrel. The other has some Thyme, Chives, Sage and a variety of baby lettuces and arugula that have made it through some unseasonably bitter cold nights (it got down to 4 degrees) we had the end of October! I had a little trouble with timing my winter garden so I can actually harvest things during the coldest months. Last year I had beets, carrots, kale and lettuce to pick.

Re: Is this the right place?
Here's my 5 year late
from Redding, CA. There aren't very many of us here who garden all year long. Outside, I only have kale and dried limas to harvest every day, but I brought in a Super Sweet 100 tomato, purple basil, and I grew a brandywine from seed specifically as an indoor experiment. Back outside, I have kohlrabi coming along nicely, carrots and sugar snap peas just getting started and Daikon radishes struggling.
We'd love to see pictures of your setup, there in zone 6?

Library Annie, Welcome to the Forum from central California!
It sounds like you are doing pretty good with winter gardening. We would love to see photos of your garden. We love photos!

Re: Is this the right place?
All tucked away for winter, you make me feel inadequate.
I did not even get my garlic planted this years as everything was so behind as I was away five weeks during the summer and it took me ages to catch up with mowing the grass and weeding. then comes winter,

Re: Is this the right place?
Hey, Library Annie!
I have nothing in now, we are frozen solid....but super interesting that you have a hoop house!
So what are your temps out there? I thought we were super close with latitudes
So glad you are here, and can’t wait to see what you do!
What do you like to grow? And eat! Experience? SFG? Read the “Book”? Mel is why we are all here, crazy, yes.
Dish! So glad you are here!
