Hello,
From Illinois

Built raised frame bed about 4 years ago, 8 feet long and 6 feet wide.

Planted Peppers hot and sweet Zucchini, cucumber, strawberries, herbs basil, mint, thyme. Tomatoes several verities. The best so far was the Roma also some plants and herbs to keep away pests. Also used the Garlic in tubes really seem to work, just realized recently until recently have been doing SQF but without a grid. will add the Grid this year and some space to walk the middle.

Recently my daughter asked about growing raspberries our Strawberries vines needs a new location and the peppers cant plant the raspberries in the raised bed. Need to make new SQF beds.

Has any planted Raspberries in the SQF system imaging one plant per SQF the reading so far has these 3 feet apart do they really need that much room ? Any suggestions appreciated

If you plant raspberries, you will want to dedicate a separate box for them. They send out new canes every year, so they will spread to adjacent areas. Last year, I planted raspberries in a 2'x16' box, and spaced the plants every 18" to 24". They will send up new canes every year to fill in the gaps. I chose "Heritage" raspberries because you can just cut them down every year. "Heritage" are not supposed to need a trellis according to what I read, but mine definitely needed it, so keep that in mind. Also, with "Heritage" you can get a small harvest the first year.

Sounds good my existing raised bed is big enough but don’t want the Raspberries to take over like the Zucchini. Just after I posted this Question read the article here some place around 2006 some else said you can do a SQF but really needs it own spot as you mentioned. Being new to the idea of berries I ordered Prelude, Nova and Taylor as they seem to be in disease and size and flavor. Going to try a big pot for each with a trellis behind them this worked for my Tomatoes last year. Everything else will go SQF gardening.
