6 deg F house is shaking
Snow's a blowing, getting dark.
Have a nice warm place here, fireplace going, hot water system doing fine.
Community has opened a few buildings for homeless and they who have other difficulties.
House shook a bit before, however all the raised beds are doing fine, hunkered down into the low...
5 deg F now
hows it going where you are?

It got down to -9 last night and the hi today was +2 with the 6" - 7" blowing snow. Should have a warm up over the next week so that's a good thing. Hope everyone is safe.

Why does your house shake? Surely it can't be shivering ...

Our high today was -9, with windchill in the -30 to -40 range. It was a bit nippy helping one of our delivery trucks dig out of the snow bank that blew across our loading dock! Tonight's low is supposed to be -19, but I think we are going to be considerably warmer than Montana!

I'm in the same boat GG! This stinks! I love a good snow day but it is just too cold to snow, lol! My sweet dad went and bought me a new battery today because my car won't start in this cold anymore!

Did the new battery work out or did you also have to get the charging system repaired , engine and ignition serviced for optimum results.
I was repairing a petrol truck in Flensburg Denmark back in the early 1970's when the temp was minus 27 oC .. Even the Norwegians put jumpers on over their T shirts that winter.
I was dressed in full military arctic gear ,it was ever so difficult to even bend my arms the garments were that thick and the seal skin over boots made my feet look like rowing boats .
But as such that didn't matter too much in any case ...the normal 3 minute job took me over an hour as I was shivering so much I couldn't get the screw & screw driver coordinated into the thread. After anhour had passed some one came out to me and took me back in the tented shelter to get a re warm .
When I'd reset the distributor timing & ignition points & got the truck going the carburettor became covered in ice as the fuel was so cold , mixing the petrol with the cold air dropped the temperature even more .
I'd hate to have to try and do such thing nowadays I'd die of heart attack in seconds I'm sure.

That's COLD
I went to our porch a few days ago when it was really cold, 15 below at night.
My face felt like it was being burned.
I suppose that was the wind chill factor, I wouldn't want to be stuck out in it.
