Re: Truth or Myth? Garden Lore Explored
Snow is a slightly better nutrient source , due to the large surface are of each flake they extract all manner of pollutants and beneficial chemicals from the air as they fall to ground.
In my rural science days late 1950' to mid 1960's we were told , two feet of snow was supposed to have the same fertilizer effect as a very light spring dressing of artificial fertilizer if it all fell in late February and was gone by the end of the first week of March .
Mr Walker our science teacher used to call snow, " God's free fertilizer " .
Remember this is the UK rural science teachings not those of the USA.... we do occasionally get such a short sharp drop of snow.

Re: Truth or Myth? Garden Lore Explored
The following website looks at quite a few myths and has some interesting reading. I particularly liked the one about Mycorrhizae as a soil amendment.

Yolos, can you please repost your link as that one doesn't work. For what its worth, I think I posted the same link earlier in this thread. It's a great site!!

Camprn, you are correct. This link is on page one, and is the second post on this thread. You can delete my post if you choose. But it is a great website if you take the time to read the different articles. Good research quoted rather than repeating what some other gardener is repeating from some other gardener.

For some reason I can't figure out how to bookmark this page in Firefox. Any help? Usually I just right-click and it pops up in the context menu.

Seems to work for me. It also worked when I opened the page and used CTRL+D
Re: Truth or Myth? Garden Lore Explored
I recommend switching to Google Chrome. My office mate is the I.T. guy and I've learned over the years to take heed to what he says or recommends. This was one of many things he recommended in which I'm glad I listened.Marc Iverson wrote:

To the right of the search bar is a star, click on it, it should turn blue, enlarge, then jump on the favorites icon. From there all you have to do is open the favorites list and select where to store the bookmark.

Thanks, but Firefox doesn't have a favorites icon, and the page does not display a star in Firefox.
Oh wait, I see what you mean. I had thought you meant the search box on the web page rather than in Firefox itself.
It worked! Thanks!
