Greetings,

I am brand new at Square Foot Gardening. I have three 6 x 3 gardens with Mel's Mix. I finally got everything planted here in MN just about two weeks ago. My beans were doing great -- until about a week after they sprouted and now the leaves are shrived upward and there are brownish dots on them. I do not see any bugs. I've done some internet research, but can't figure out what it is. Any ideas? Your help would be so appreciated!

Thank you! Natalie

Here's a photo, I hope! Smile

Hi Natalie,
You have some new growth coming on. Hang tight and see what happens with those leaves. If you are watering from overhead, giving the plants a shower, I would suggest just watering the Mel's mix.

Hi Natalie and glad you\'re here  to the forum!

I'm with camprn - beans grow incredibly fast and in my limited experience (two seasons) they outgrow any funky happenings with their leaves unless something is truly wrong. Best to observe for now. Hang in there!

Thanks to both of you! I'm sort of like a new mom, I guess -- I worry over every little thing. Much appreciated advice. Smile

My southern peas did that this year. I'm not sure what caused it, but once they got the next set of leaves they were off to the races. If it ever stops raining, I need to pick them. We are floating here in eastern South Carolina.
