Gorgeous looking food. Adding those beets to my grow list for next year. We use beets in our black bean and rice burgers (way tastier than hamburger). What kind of onions are those?

Re: Today's Harvest Pics
Southern, as you may have read from some of my previous posts I am using two different soil types in my boxes: amended native clay soil and Mels Mix.
With onions and beets it seems I get a bit bigger veggie in the amended clay soil. For example, onions in the amended clay are about 3" in diameter...the same onions in Mels Mix are not even an inch. I only try carrots in Mels Mix (deep box).
I also say again that with both soil types, I get some really good beets and some that are all tops and no beet even in the same square.

I am experiencing the same thing. Gotten some decent beets, but some really good radishes, (which I don't really like ) and some massive turnips. Carrots are puny, and most of the beets are on the small side. Which bed did your beets in the pics come from? I LOVE beets and really want some nice ones like yours! Congrats

beets
My beets came from both soil types...seems like the nicer ones came from non-Mels Mix. I had problems with squirrels digging up beet seeds and had to re-seed several times so some squares may be a bit behind.

Re: Today's Harvest Pics
ok...good to note. I've planted a whole bunch...hope to get some beauties like yours! We made "covers" out of hardware cloth, and it's kept the squirrels and rabbits out, birds too!
