Composting- What leaves NOT to put in compost
Is there a list of leaves NOT to put in compost. Or, a list of leaves that are good to put in compost?
I have the following leaves available at my house: Chinese Pistachio, Photinia, Star Jasmine, Podacarpus, Bay Leaf and Xylosma.
Does it matter whether they are still green because I pruned a branch or are brownish because they fell off the tree?
Thank you

I am not sure about the list of types but I do think they are better to be put in brown rather than green!

Do NOT put black walnut leaves/parts in your compost. The black walnut tree (leaves, roots, hulls, etc) contain a compound that will stunt/kill your garden veggies. For more info, search the forum for posts by member UnderTheBlackWalnut.

Bay leaves can repel some insects, so you might want to experiment/research it instead of just piling it in your compost.

I believe that what you have will do great in the compost pile. Just wait til they turn bown/ dry out a bit before adding them or it will take longer for them to brake down.
