Well, the rest of our plants finally went into the ground late today. In the SFG went 10 tomatoes, 9 peppers, 3 basil, and some alyssum. Of the tomatoes, 4 are indeterminate cherries, and the other 6 are a mystery. I had inadvertently mixed up the indeterminate beefsteaks and the determinate romas. So I put 4 in the remaining positions that had trellis space available and I caged the other two.

That still left 14 tomato plants with no homes. Two fell over and the stems broke when carrying the pots so they went into the compost pile. 4 found homes in some ammended ground soil. 4 wet into 5 gallon pots. And the last two will be given away after we up-pot them tomorrow to 12" pots from the 6 inch pots.

This morning we also got our first couple flowers on the peas and harvested some lettuce and spinach and our first radish. The spinach is turning into a bust. We haven't harvested much yet and a lot of leavs are being eaten, usually starting from a tear in the middle of the leave working outwards. I think aphids are being farmed by ants, but I haven't spotted them yet, just LOTS of little brown ants. We have stuff to try to get rid of the ants (boron based) plus lacewing larvae to release tomorrow. But on top of that some of the spinach is bolting, probably because of these multiple days in a row of 90+ degrees.

I wil try to post pictures tomorrow. I was WAY too exhausted when I finished with the tomatoes tonight.

Consider this before killing off the native ants.
