2nd tabletop needs filling
I have just received my 2nd tabletop garden. I now need to fill it with Mels mix.
I have:-
coarse vermiculite
Moss peat
Verve compost
Chicken manure- pelleted stuff (not sure how much to use)
Rabbit manure thanks to sweep our pet rabbit (hasn't been composted, Am I right in thinking it does"t need to be?)
Garden compost my own (I really hope its alright) :fall:
I have wormeries but the worm compost is quite wet. To be honest theres not much of it. Can I use the wet stuff or would you suggest something else
Also should I save the worm compost for the top layer or mix it in?
This garden will be partly brassicas and root veg

The rabbit poo is fine! The worm compost is fine (I am pretty sure).

Thank you. I have just found worm casts on line - which have been dried so will get some.

FB can you afford a bag or three of composted farm manure from the likes of B&Q or a garden centre app £12 for 3
Make sure it is composted farm manure and not composted horse manure
The composted farm manure will have chicken muck cow muck pig muck turkey muck etc in it along with some wood pulp .
The composted horse muck seems to be a heck of a lot of pulped wood & still recognisable cobbles of horse dung out of stables using rubber matting and little else. Mine gave forth zillions of weeds .. the farm stuff wasn't anywhere near so bad .

Re: 2nd tabletop needs filling
That chicken muck is good , you shouldn't need a massive amount as it is somewhat concentrated.
So say a big double handful in a bucket topped with your Verve and well mixed in should be enough to count as one bucket of the five compost elements .
Because of the difficulties in getting various bagged composted manures and products over here when starting your initial MM formula .
I'd even go as far as suggesting a pound of dried fish, blood & bone meal compound added to another bucket of Verve would equate to yet another bucket of different composts & again make sure it all gets well mixed beforee using in the beds ..
Do wash the crops that are harvested and yourself as well after using it , for it's really just like a long term rotting corpse when it gets damp and grows similar bacteria etc. that will help feed & nourish your plants .
