Can you please advise me what composter to buy. I already have two, both plastic. I also have a wormery. But lately I have been hearing about hot bins and seen composters that your turn. What do people think are the best to buy?

Likely, the contents in the bin will determine which kind you decide on. Though price may also play a role.

I am looking at making a second compost bin from a food-quality plastic barrel. The first bin I use now is a 31-gallon galvanized-steel trash can (~ $27), though I want to be more efficient (currently, remainder of compost is piled on ground).

I looked at the options for sale at a local supply store (Lowes):

5-gallon plastic bucket, food quality with lid (3.45 if purchase 5 count; 3.97 if 1 count)
plastic compost bin with steel frame (~ $98) [did not look very sturdy; was even offered severe discount to $30]
30-gallon platic trash can, with lid (~ $20)

Compared to other options, the steel trash can seemed the best choice, due to durability and possibility to re-use it. The 5-gallon buckets where second runner up, due to low cost... but only hold so much bulky material. The buckets do also have the benefit of easy storage (empty and stack them).

According to a web link I found, taking a rain barrel workshop can reward you with a free barrel and teach you how to build it.

for your reply. I may use a rain barrel that has sprang a leak. The only thing is though, the lid doesn't fit now as it was left off; and in the heat it has warped. lol!

Im over the other side of the pond to you and we don't have the
com posters that turn, or if we do I haven't seen any thinking
