Seedlings in egg cartons
Ok so quick question...
I started my seeds in egg cartons and now that they're growing I'm wondering if there's enough room for the roots. I won't be planting outside for about 3 more weeks so will the egg cartons be big enough? Should I transplant them to bigger indoor containers? I've read some things about plants roots going into shock when you move them - is this a real concern? Also, if I keep them in the egg cartons until I plant outside, can I just plant the egg cartons in the soil if I cut them apart? I've read differing things on that too!
I told you I was new....and obviously didnt think this through! Haha
What I have planted and growing now is: cucumbers, spaghetti squash, pumpkins, basil, zucchini, green onions, romaine lettuce, watermelon, beets, and peppers.
Thoughts/suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Seedlings in egg cartons
It is easy to learn how to remove baby plants from the cartons. Do not pull the plant out by the stem. Squeeze the carton a few times from all sides to loosen the dirt. Then gently remove both the dirt and plant together. If the roots of two plants are mingled, wiggle them gently apart.
