Lucky you!! It's still too cold up here in MN. There was snow on the ground the last 2 mornings, though it melted by afternoon. I usually have things planted by now and hoop houses up, but not this year.....still waiting for things to thaw completely!!
Maybe next week I'll get to work in the garden and be a "whooped puppy"!

I still have 3 - 4 inches of very wet snow. I too thought I'd have some of the cool weather plants in by now but last weeks snow storm ended that possibility.

Hey, I down here in the south and I still have my peppers, tomatos and eggplants under wraps. Probably could have put them out this past weekend but with the Azelia Festival going I got nothing done. Maybe this weekend. I keep losing my great white beefsteak tomatos, either no germination or damping off. Trying one last time with some new seed. May not get any till late summer early fall at this point.

Re: Spring must be coming
Here is the forecast for my area:
Winter Storm Watch now in effect from Thursday morning through
Friday morning...
* Timing: snow will begin Thursday morning across western
Minnesota... with the rain snow line pushing east through the
day. All areas will experience snow by Thursday night... which
may be heavy at times.
* Snow accumulation: around 6 inches.
* Other impacts: strong north winds are expected Thursday
afternoon and Thursday night... gusting at times to 35 mph.
This will lead to some blowing snow in open areas by Thursday
night.
Transplanted the starts yesterday from the vermiculite. I thought I started them too late but I am wondering if that is not the case this spring.

Ours has been upgraded as well. Moved it to 10pm, but now warning instead of watch. 6-8" with possibly 'locally higher amounts'

Re: Spring must be coming
I wonder if it's part of the storm we've been getting hammered with? We have heaps of snow. Not too bitterly cold, but nice, wet snow! We have some winds moving in now making for some pretty good drifts, but I'm not going to complain. We need the moisture so bad. It's putting some of my planting a bit behind schedule, but there's still plenty of time

Re:
It was nice and warm today. I noticed a pair of doves, robins, sparrows and the ever present squirrels in the backyard. The only things that are greening up are the daylilies, daffodils, and dandelions. The rain mixed with snow we had a couple of days ago really helped.
I raked up alot of twigs from the wind storms that we had. I think Im just going to leave them in a pile until I start a new compost pile.
I have an old water feature that I think Im going to plant with annuals and then put a bowl/cake pan in the center with water.

Here's the green house the cement blocks are keeping it from getting blown away in the 50+ mph winds the past few days.[url=
Here's one of the gutter garden I made for the other half.[url=
Some arugula coming up [url=
This is suppose to be kale allso this morning I repoted some lettuce and celery the other half has been soaking in water the past couple of weeks she read a post on my Facebook page about re growing veggies so here's goes another experiment.

Hi there
Great looking composter! I'm looking to build one myself, but I'm having a tough time finding the food safe shipping barrel at a reasonable price. Really want to build rather than buy. I love a good project rather than a shopping trip. Any suggestions on locating the barrel. Thanks.

blue barrels
My boyfriend & I have made top bar bee hives from those barrels & mine are old Dr. Pepper syrup containers. If you live near a processing plant you might check there.
Awesome composter idea! Wish I had thought of that.
