I'm new at gardening. Very unsure--have read Mel's book. Glad to find this forum.

What is it that you are unsure about? One thing I really like about this method is that with Mel's Mix you can't over water because the excess water just washes away from your above ground SFG. With the water retention of Mel's Mix I have in the past forgot about watering for a day or 3 and my garden was still there and after a good watering picked back up. This method is a bit forgiving and easier that other methods but you do have to get the steps right at the beginning.
Start small with something you know you can handle and then you can expand next year if you like it.
