Marigolds
I want to put some marigolds in each of my beds, for I've heard they will do a lot of good.
I want to start them in the house from seed. Question: Do I place the seed flat on the dirt, or do I stand them up? They are about 3/4 inch long. I usually just buy at the store, never planted from seed before.

Re: Marigolds
Out in my garden I throw seeds on the soil and do nothing else and they come up. My guess when sowed indoors, it will be a cinch by laying the seeds flat.

Re: Marigolds
I second laying them flat, I started them last year and they figured out with way to send up and which way to send down! They were my most successful flower that I started myself last year, when I transplanted them on Mother's Day they weren't quite an inch high and by mothers day they were 3 feet tall
