Hey guys! Just a quick question I have about seeds that have failed to germinate due to (I suspect) our recent cold weather. They were sown outside, which in retrospect was not very clever. But I would like to know what to do with them in those squares that I've sown them in? Do I rake the soil (and seeds in to the bottom) and hope that they won't grow when the weather warms up? I would like to use the space now to grow seedlings that I have first propagated indoors - but they won't be the same plants.

How can I prevent the seeds from developing down the road?

Would be grateful for any help - a newbie just starting SFG! Thanks.

Hi , most of the seeds will have rotted past redemption /germination over autumn /winter due to too much water and cold making for fungal attack on the seed growth nodes with in the seed cases .

If you turn the bed/square contents over for a full top to bottom exercise , it is unlikely that they will ever germinate or see the light of day .

Re sow next year with what ever choice of seed you want , but it might be sensible to use a totally different seed species in the affected squares so that you can easily see the differences in emerging seedlings ,should any of the earlier one emerge .
You can then snip off the unwanted seeds with a pair of scissors.
