Fall Lighting
This is may 1st year doing SFG and I must say I do like it a lot and the learning is always fun. So far, I'm pretty much done with all of my summer crop except, I still have a Big Boy and Roma tomato plant which still has a lot of green tomatoes on it. I've picked plenty of ripe tomtoes so far too. For my empty squares, I planted the recommended fall cropts, leaf lettuce, collard, mustard, turnips, carrots (late start), but I worried about the amount of sunlight they are getting compared to may summer crops. My house faces east-west (front-back), with my SFG (2 3x6) boxes in the back yard. I have 1 box in the NW area of the back yard and the other in the SW area of the back yard.
For the summer, I logged out every area of my property to determine how much light each area was getting. The 2 location I choose got the most light during the early summer with about 10 - 12 hrs of sunlight. Now in the fall, they are getting less than 6 hrs of sunlight. I'm wondering how to people handle the reduction in light? Do you have seperate boxes in different locations for summer vs fall or do you just use the same box in the same location all year?
Thanks

Re: Fall Lighting
My boxes are scattered all around the house, some of them get more/less light than others and I just plant in them accordingly, there are quite a few things you can grow with limited sunlight like lettuce and spinach! I also grow radishes, beets, carrots, and turnips in the shade boxes too!
