bT and fall crops

Last year I noticed after spraying bt (Thuracide) on all the cole crops that simply spraying the top and bottom leaves helps a lot and covered with tulle.
But this year is different. Made sure to Totally Drench the Center of the plants too where of course the new leaves develop. It made a big difference.
Gently pulled open the little leaves to spray thoroughly.
I skipped using tulle/bridal veil covering. That was two weeks ago. Today I closely inspected, 33 out of 34 plants had zero worms. Almost missed the one worm because it was so teeny-tiny. The newest leaves are picture pretty. I'm still seeing the white moth/butterfly things but it looks like the worms get killed off pretty quick with a good mouthful of bT. Thought I would share this in case it helps anyone else.

I just got thru spraying BT on my cole crops tonight also. Question - Does the BT kill the worms by landing on them or do they die by eating the BT covered leaves.

They die from eating the leaves.

Since we are on the topic of BT and Thuracide, I have another question not related to cole crops. This summer when it came time to spray my corn ears for worms, I read all the directions on the Thuracide bottle. Nowhere in the instructions could I find any mention of using the product on corn. Are there different types of BT products? Maybe one that I can use on corn?

Yolos you are right. My container lists 50 crops that BT can be used on but not corn. I don't have an answer to your question but I can name some options. Your extension service folks should be able to help you out and maybe someone here on the forum will chime in too. Another option is the white search box at the top left (and bottom left) of this page. If you find an answer it would be great to let us know.

I'm not sure about different types of BT - I seem to remember that there may be. I did read studies on using BT on corn.

I miplaced teh little foldout directions on my thuracide but I did use it on corn this summer. I have done 3 small crops of corn this year, the 1st was not sprayed and had corn earworm. The 2nd was sprayed when the silks first showed and it did not have earworms. The 3rd crop is about ready to harvest and has been sprayed, so I will find out soon. With this last batch I am also fighting the bagrada bug
