I know nada about carrots but maybe it's not finished growing yet? I pulled one up a couple weeks ago and it was all white.
But let's wait and see what those with carrot experience say.

A picture speaks a thousand words , but in the absence of one I'd guess it is a normal carrot with a long root that has not got growing outwards / thickening yet .

Re: Carrots...what is wrong???
Hopeless maybe it is just something fluky. I am also one who doesn't know the answer but I found an interesting site with a photo of lots of different colored carrots. That is why I am thinking it is just something fluky. White carrots are supposed to be very sweet. http://www.nextnature.net/2009/08/why-are-carrots-orange-it-is-political/
Plantoid that/those are one/two amazing carrot(s)! I have never seen anything like that! Rowena transplants carrots and twists them before she puts them in the new hole for them to grow for some unusual shapes.
I grew carrots really well last year but this year I can't get any to grow past a half inch top although I have planted twice. I am blaming the earwigs, couldn't be anything I did!

My carrots turned out small. This was the first time I've ever grown carrots. Maybe your white carrot is an albino

LOL! Albino was my first thought as well.... But I don't think my daughter would eat albino carrots and I was too afraid to even try it!

They tasted Ok but if I tell you how I did it I'll have to send a team of SAS over to kill you stone dead .
I'll see if I can replicate it next year , including the colour scheme.

Re: Carrots...what is wrong???
I planted carrots also and so far I only found 3 that were big enough to harvest earlier in the week. I am not too concerned since the plants look healthy. I did crowd my a bit so I think mine will not get as big as I would like, but I don't care as long as they taste good. I did find one carrot that had only a 2 inch growth from the top and then stunted a did not look good. It does seem as though they are taking forever....
Re: Carrots...what is wrong???
After reading other posts, I thought I would do some searching and found a site that sells all kinds of seeds. I clicked on carrots and there are all different sizes, shapes and colors of carrots. http://www.reimerseeds.com/carrots_444.aspx Click on yellow carrots and then look at the yellowstone carrots. Some of those are two toned. Just something interesting to look at!

Re: Carrots...what is wrong???
I got some pretty wild looking carrots last year.
I had some that were big and long but had two three or more extra carrot roots growing all together like yours in your photo. I wanted to know why they did that because this year I wanted to make sure I had nice straight carrots with nothing extra growing off them so I could put them in the fair.
What I found out was, if they get to much fertilizer they sprout those extra sprouts off the carrot, and if they get to much water they will split, and if they grow to close to each other they will twist around each other.
And that made since because last year I wanted to beat boffer in a carrot contest and I really added a lot of extra fertilizer all season till harvest time, and all the carrots were weird looking. This year I only added some compost to the SFG at the start of planting the carrots, and didn't add any more the rest of the season and the carrots turned out pretty nice and straight, good enough that I won a ribbon at the fair with them.

Re: Carrots...what is wrong???
Yes, I grew them in one of my boxes of Mel's mix.
Last yr when I grew the same carrots they were fantastic.
I think it was due to them being too crowded.
I plan on planting carrots for the fall and hopefully they will be "normal".
Tks everyone for your advice.

Re: Carrots...what is wrong???
Crowding does not do that. Crowding makes carrots twined around each other. Branching is from something disturbing the tab root. That something can be compost that is not finished, nematodes, heavy soils.
