Weeder from salad fork.
A person with an SFG often has problems finding tools small enough for working in those 16-per square sections. With the help of two pliers, I bent a salad fork and tried it this week.
Its terrific for weeding between closely-seeded lettuces, radishes, peas, carrots or greens but only while the soil is dry. I tried it also after watering the carrot bed, and the soil jams between the tines. Lesson learned. Weed before watering.
I also whipped out a stray weed near a broccoli stem with ease. Now I carry this in my garden apron at all times.

That is so cute and handy. I might have to steal this idea. I have an old fork from a meat carving set that might just become my next tool. Nice job.

Re: Weeder from Salad Fork
good thinking......long ago I went to the 2nd hand store and bought up a lot of misc dinner forks.....I dont bend them ....just put my finger on the pulled weed and pull....dont have many weeds....but when they pop their heads....off they go....note: I spray paint the handles red......and leave them around in each bed....ao I can easily find one......works good for me......Ruth

@tabletopper.....I've got a Salvation Army family store nearby where I always pick up an old venetian blind each year for plant labels. I think I'll go today to check out what might work in my garden. Thanks for the reminder.
