cabbage loopers...

Are devouring my lettuce. Sad

Does anybody have any good home remodies? I saw that there are few chemical insecticides available but I don't really want to go that route.

Agreed with the Bt, however, please know that there can be multiple generations of these wee beasties during the growing season and as another option you may want to put tulle or netting over your brassicas and lettuces to prevent future infestations.

Thanks. They are so nasty. I have a pretty low tolerance for creatures in general, but these are especially creepy to me. I had rabbits eating my lettuce until recently when I put pepper all over it, and they are gone, now these are doing far more damage than the rabbits ever did!!!

I'll check around for some of the BT. Thanks for the tips.

I put a light row cover over my brassicas. It helps that most of them are in the same bed. It seems to help a lot in more ways than one. It also acts as a shade cloth to keep my cool loving plants a little cooler and so far, I do not see signs of bolting. I also water this bed less frequently. I remove the row cover every 2-3 days to inspect and remove the occassional cabbage moth as well as water. I need to get a cover over my squashes to hopefully prevent the squash vine borer invasion... affraid

My best way to get rid of them is by hand. Row covers didn't help.
