Bush instead of Vine oopps
This is my first year with a garden. I have 2 10'x4' raised beds. On the end of one of the beds I planted three squash plants. My plan was to train them up a trellis but now I discover there is a vine type and a bush type and it looks like I have the bush type. If I can not grow them upright then there will not be enough room for them. I do not want to lose the plants and I do not know what to do. Please help!

Please tell us what exactly it is you planted. You said they are on the end of the box? that should be OK, they can sprawl out of the box a bit (or a lot).

Crookneck
They are crookneck squash. The rest of the bed is populated by tomatoes. If they spread out they will go into the tomatoes and into each other. Do you think it would be possible for me to dig them up and move them? I can not really think of any other solution other then get what I can off of them until they get too big and then cut them back (which I understand is not good for them). Learning sure is fun

How big are they now? Are they setting flowers yet? I moved my Connecticut field pumpkins (considered a summer squash), and while they wilted and looked unhappy for a few days, the leaves perked up after that and they've survived the move.
