Maybe not in Seattle but we could feel the chill as it blows into the Pacific Northwest. Here is AccuWeather.com's warning.

These almost never pan out. Could be quite windy and cold. Is your garden ready?

Today is the day. Big weather alert.... At noon there is still no snow or wind. I am shocked and amazed.

Snowflakes have come and gone, might be heading your way!

Steve, owner of two dogs who don't understand why they don't get veggie treats at planting time, when mom and dad are working in the garden, like they do at harvest time.

Arggggg!!! I covered up my veggie bed with a plastic sheet overnight, but this morning the hail and rain weighed it down so much that a big puddle filled up the center and BROKE OFF MY BABY KALE! Wahhh... Sad

Well, good thing I grew some extras and haven't given them away yet... Replanting time as soon as I redesign the support frame over the bed!

Also, INDOORS one of my sweet Italian pepper starts suddenly keeled over and has holes in the leaves overnight, with no warning. What the heck? I don't see any bugs at all. I do have a lot of white flies outdoors, but haven't seen any indoors plus the house is all shut up.

A moment of silence and respect for your fallen pepper. SO sorry about that. Let me know if you find out what it was.....isdah!

I put a pic on The Toy Box of my onions with the plastic cover squished down on them. And I have a chicken wire cover over my bed to keep the puppies and crows out. I think mine will make it though.

But hey, even if you have one or two soldiers fall, you still have about the prettiest garden I have seen.

Well, I went to Home Depot last night and got 4 10' pieces of PVC (only 92 cents each, yay!) and made a strong "criss-cross" support over my planted bed with plastic sheeting over it. I may need to reseed the corners of my bed - not good to do these things after the fact.

I see on the weather that we're expecting 33 degrees tonight - usually I have 5 degrees lower, so I am covering everything up that I can! My new cherry and Asian pear are in bloom now...

Do you mean like they show in the book? (the PVC) That’s great! I've been looking at that set up but never got as far as going to the hardware store to price it. Just getting started has been expensive-ish. Would you mind posting a pic or two? I want to do some winter gardening and need to figure out how I will protect everything from the early rains and the later snows.

So far this spring I have run about 4 to 5 degrees higher then KIRO or accuweather.com which has been nice. We sit at the top of a bluff and I think the cold air falls into the gully but I cannot be sure. I don't want to count on that if we are skirting 33 as a prediction.

As a side, I read about your tomato dilemma. I thought you were going to say you had too many tomatoes, not too big of tomatoes! That is both kewl and crazy. How did that happen for her? I started mine in early March and they are doing well in their little yogurt cups, outgrowing them actually, but I don't think any of them are more than 6". I'm going to have to find homes for most of them. Just found out my dad isn't going to garden this year because he wants to travel. Shoot!

Thanks for letting us know what you're doing, Momma...
I am setting seedlings out this weekend, and was trying to figure out what to do in case of a frost... I didn't realize the PVC was so inexpensive! I was getting ready to 'borrow' the fiberglass poles from my tent - and now I won't have to do that!
