Perhaps the participants could give an interesting or less known fact about the item, such as

Amaranth is a grain used by the Aztecs.

Broccoli is a plant that is grown for the flowers, not the fruit or seed.

We could have multiple games going on at the same time too.
How about a game where you post an interesting or obscure comment on a plant or animal and ask is this fact or fiction and let the debate begin

Fact or Fiction
Example: Don't pick up a guinea pig by its tail or both eyes will fall out. (debate begins) I used this in high school and a classmate believed it for days until she was told they don't have tails. True story and we had a good laugh.

To stay on topic we could use plants, animals (because of manure uses), shoot, even construction, insects, weather, cooking, etc.

Another game I saw was the "make a sentence from 5 letters game." The poster above you would give 5 letters (after making their own sentence from the poster above them) and you would make a sentence from them.

Ex..... h a n d f could become....

Carrots - hareloom varieties can be purchased that are purple. I grew 2 purple varieties last season and are pulling a few each week. Now if I can just find a loom to make rabbit yarn.

I searched online and found several that might work for us. Some others seemed just wayyyyy too complicated to work in a forum.

Five Letters (Ok, I don't care much for their sentence example, but you get the idea.)

Easy game...I've picked five letters...and I've listed them. The next person has to make a sentence using just the five letters. Like this...

B M M H T

Begging me, Make Hummus Tonight

then leave your five letters...

W Y I M K

Lie To Me - you post 3 things about yourself, people guess which is the lie.

Fortunately, Unfortunately
• One person begins with a sentence (e.g., One day Little Johnny walked to the local shoe shop).
• The next person tells of something unfortunate that happens (e.g., Unfortunately, Little Johnny was hit by a refrigerator.).
• The following person contributes a fortunate event (e.g., Fortunately, the refrigerator was made entirely of marshmallows).
• The fourth person will contribute an unfortunate event (e.g., Unfortunately, he died.)
• The fifth person will contribute a fortunate event (e.g., Fortunately, he came back to life.), and the process is repeated

I think the veggie alphabet is a dud.

The game that Sherry calls "Fortunately, Unfortunately" has potential because it is interactive and creative. Are there limits to the length of the answers?

And if we end up doing it, somebody else can volunteer to do the summary!

Get it going boffer. I like the idea. Along the same lines as 3 word which have proven worthy!

I think one sentence for an answer is good - doesn't matter what length as long as we're reasonable and don't write sentences that go on forever. I think what ya'll have been doing works.

The "Lie to me" game would help us learn more about each other, but the logistics of it might be awkward. I guess we'd have to have one person guess which is the lie & wait until the person who posted the info about themselves verifies whether the answer was correct or not. The correct guesser could then post 3 things about him/herself. I don't know if it would work for us.

The five letter game might work for a future idea.

I'll bet more of you out there know of games that might work?
