Name that plant - the game
I'm curious how many people recognize this plant? I don't think it's commonly grown ... but maybe not? And no, I don't mean the strawberry or the volunteer marigold ;-)
Anyone else have plants they'd like to stump everyone with?

Sorry. I know it looks a lot like potato vine. But it's not even distantly related.terrijo wrote:markqz wrote:Not spinach. Not Jicama nor cassava.

Cheated but wrong?
Ok, so I cheated and tried using my plant identifier app on your picture. The app identified it as a sweet potato. But you said that it is not. Hmmmm. Is it some crazy sort of bean?

Not a bean nor, AFAIK, any member of the legume family.Mary Lee wrote:Hmmmm. Is it some crazy sort of bean?
Although less common in the U.S., it is popular in parts of Europe and China, where more than 600,000 tonnes of its output are produced every year.

One last clue: It's seed hulls are often used to stuff furniture and specialty pillows/cushions.

Here's one that should be easier. You'll certainly know what type of plant it is, but what is the actual name?

Ding! Ding! Ding!yolos wrote:Leaves in the last photo look like buckwheat.
The first photo was the Rose Red Soba buckwheat. The 2nd was just plain old white buckwheat. I guess there's some variation in leaves between the sub-types.
Another day, another buckwheat.
