Hello everyone!

I am from Lawrence, Kansas and have just purchased a home (2 weeks ago) and am so very very excited to have the yard and space for my first SFG!! I have been container gardening for so long and can't wait to really "dig in" and get started on all the vegetables that I've been unable to grow! bounce

I read Mel's newest book over the weekend and it really has me wishing that spring would come so I can get a start on everything! I've picked out a place to start a compost pile and have yet to decide on where I want my gardens.

Just wanted to say hello and look forward to absorbing all the information I can find on SFGs!

glad you\'re here starrchine! We're so glad you decided to join the forum and join us in the SFG adventure. I think you'll enjoy both immensely!

The best advice I could offer anybody about to start a sfg is to work hard to get the Mel's Mix right. Getting it right (or wrong) can either make or break your gardening efforts. It's fantastic that you've already read the book. Most people have more questions about getting Mel's Mix right. There's a great post at https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t7451-mel-s-mix-how-strong-is-your-backbone that you might want to also read, especially when you're ready to get your ingredients together.

Post questions, concerns and successes. We love pics and everybody here is so friendly and helpful. I hope to see you around the forum!

Hello! Another newbie from Kansas! Empty Some great advice that I got to make it even easier!!

Hi - I'm also a newcomer! Someone told me that you can buy pre-made Mel's Mix from Lowe's under the Garden Time brand. For $12.98, it seems like a deal -- no sourcing, purchasing of various materials or mixing. And -- for $69, they have a raised bed with trellis.

Check out these links:

Good luck!!
