Winter Rye and Beer Brewing?

Winter Rye and Beer Brewing?
I am going to plant a few rows of winter rye this fall and was wondering some more facts on this plant. Is rye a wheat? Can i gather the grains of winter rye and use them in beer brewing? I know nothing of growing in the winter and would love to be able to use this to an even more advantage than a green manure. Thanks in advance for all the great info!

Hi yosoypanader. I am a home brewer as well. You should be able to brew with it. Here's a link that talks about it:
