hello again!
Well, just got back from 2 wks of camping and while I had people come water and harvest any veggies or fruit that was ripe, many plants bolted on me.
I had a small broccoli floret, which i thought would grow into a larger head of broccoli - nope! I now have pretty broccoli flowers.
FINALLY, have a few green cherry tomatoes and one tiny green heirloom.
The potato leaves have brown spots so I'm guessing they're infected with something
Oh and the rhubarb, which struggled, now is 6 ft tall. So, clearly, I forgot to do something to keep that thing short. Unless it's supposed to be that tall.
I think radishes are done growing since they're the same size as when I left 2 wks ago.
Cucumbers and watermelon sprouted but short.
Pumpkin, yellow squash, and zucchini have blossoms but the plants themselves are short.
Peas have taken over the spot on the trellis that was meant for the cucumbers.
My blueberries are starting to ripen. The few that were ripe, my cousin's boys ate as part of "payment" for helping water the plants. The herbs on my deck are flourishing! Looks like I can start making tons of rosemary olive french bread!

sorry to hear things bolted on you while you were gone...the up side is if they made some flowers while you were gone then that may in the end help get more squash and cucumbers....for some reason....my bee's love anything that bolts :scratch:

I was really sad about the broccoli. Guess I should have eaten my small floret before we left.
We're going to have to figure out some automatic watering system. I tried drip irrigation using the stuff the SFG store sells but didn't work. Water didn't even make it through the first system, let alone get close to the 2nd system. We have excellent water pressure in all our sinks and faucets so my husband thinks the design of the irrigation system they sell is faulty. Our other thought is to mount a sprinkler head to the tops of the cages we built and attach those to the timer.
