what kind of herb is this?
hi all ....we harvested a bunch of herbs today
one of them i dont remember what it is....i have had it for several of years and it comes back on its own.....i harvested some of it today as it was about to flower
anyone know what it is? and is it ok to harvest now that it is showing signs of flowering?....will it taste good still ?

Looks like oregano or marjoram to me.

i remember planting some of that and i dont remember planting any marjoram.....

Looks like Oregano to me. Mine came back this year also

Since there was oregano thereabouts before you are all probably correct however my oregano both Greek ad Italian have slightly broader less pointed leaves. My marjoram has more elongated leaves like this picture. Only the taste test could tell me properly what the variety is.

Whatever it is, I think it can be cut back quite a bit now to prevent it from flowering again.

Yup, if you cut the tops off it wont flower and will make the plant bushier. But if you want to leave it to flower the bees will be happy you did.quiltbea wrote:Whatever it is, I think it can be cut back quite a bit now to prevent it from flowering again.
